Dune Bashing in Dubai
Dune bashing is the roller-coaster part of a desert safari: a licensed safari driver takes a 4x4 Land Cruiser up the ridges and down the slip faces of the Lahbab red dunes. It's included on every desert safari we run, from AED 99 per person (25-30 minutes on shared cars). On a private car from AED 799 you get 40-45 minutes at the intensity you choose. Pickup is free across Dubai.

How intense is it?
Shared cars drive a standard route of about 25-30 minutes. Private cars run 40-45 minutes at whatever intensity you ask for. Want to drive yourself? The Land Cruiser self-drive (AED 3,000) puts you behind the wheel with an instructor.

Yes, on every desert safari. The self-drive safari includes a shorter 15-minute drive from the meeting point.
How long is dune bashing?

Is dune bashing safe?
With licensed drivers and roll-caged, insured Land Cruisers, yes. It isn't recommended if you're pregnant, have back or heart problems, or for children under 3.
Where is dune bashing done in Dubai?
In the Lahbab red dunes, about 45 minutes from Downtown Dubai via the Dubai-Hatta Road (E44). Private trips can also go to Fossil Rock in the Sharjah desert.
Can I do dune bashing only?
Yes. The private sunset (AED 849) or private morning (AED 799) safaris are mostly dune bashing without the camp.
Can I drive the 4x4 myself?
Yes. The Land Cruiser self-drive (AED 3,000 per vehicle) puts you behind the wheel for 30-40 minutes with an instructor beside you.
How do I avoid motion sickness?
Don't eat for 2-3 hours before pickup, sit in the front and look at the horizon, and ask the driver to go gentle. They will slow down or stop if you feel unwell.

This is amazing!! We had such a great time! Dune bashing, sandboarding, quad biking, and camel riding were all so much fun. Our safari guide, Emdad, was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the tour, and he made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We had an amazing experience on our desert safari today. It was truly worth the money! All the shows, rides, activities, and especially the food were excellent. Everything was well organized and we enjoyed every moment of the 6-hour safari. The best part was that our 23-month-old baby, Ahaan, also enjoyed the entire experience. We were a little concerned about travelling with a baby, but everything went very smoothly and he had a great time. A special thanks to our guide, Emdad Bhai, who was extremely supportive and helpful throughout the trip. He guided us during every activity and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable experience for our family. Definitely paisa vasool! Highly recommended for families, especially those travelling with kids.
